Why are we here?

Grassroots music in the UK is in crisis. Live music brings huge economic benefits to the UK with over £7 billion spent on large scale concerts and festivals last year and over 250,000 people employed within the sector.

However,  grassroots music scenes are under threat. 

Since 2020, 293 festivals have been cancelled, postponed or called off, and in the last decade over 400 grassroots live music venues have permanently closed. In 2025 alone, In 2025 alone, 43 festivals fell and 30 venues shut their doors for good.

Artists have cut their numbers of tour dates in half, visiting 50% less towns and cities then they used to. Over 175 towns and cities across the UK no longer receive regular touring shows from performing artists because of rising costs and the closure of vital spaces. 

Across the country, thousands of audience members miss out on live music, thousands of artists can't perform, and thousands of promoters and event organisers can't continue their work. 

We’re here to fix that.

How do we do it?

By collecting a £1 contribution per ticket for shows and events with a 5,000+ capacity, LIVE Trust funds programmes that deliver long-term positive impact for the grassroots music ecosystem all over the UK.

What do we want to see?

The UK has a long and proud musical history. We want to see a robust grassroots music ecosystem that we can continue to protect and expand, ensuring the UK's live music industry continues to be world-class.

We will:

• Reduce the number of closed venues and cancelled festivals.
• Increase the number of tour dates and locations that artists are able to perform
• Increase jobs and build support for promoters and freelance event professionals all over the UK.
